I'm Not Neckface, He Is
Posted By Rob
Wed, Nov 04, 11:25 AM
Every time I'm at an event where Neckface is, I get at least four or five people asking me if I'm him. Some people don't even ask, they just roll up and start talking like, "Dude, that was crazy when you
jumped through the fire wasted!" That wasn't me, that was Neckface. Did you ever think you'd see Neckface doing artwork for a Del the Funky Homosapien show? Both of them will be at Tampa Am next month. I'm not even going to ask you to go, because if you need to be asked to go, then I don't know what's wrong with you. Tampa Am 2009 is going to be another barn burner as usual. Get tickets online now for the show and get tickets for the Contest here.

I've Done the PP Dance in the Back of That Truck Many Times
Posted By Rob
Wed, Nov 04, 9:02 AM
Right now the Clem-350 is speeding across the south on its way to the Johnny Romano Skate Jam where
this list of top pros and ams are
doing a king sized demo. Piss now or forever hold your peace because once Clem gets on the road, your bladder will not be empty until the gas tank is. For the 6th year in a row, SPoTlight Productions has volunteered their services to assist with the event. I, however, have volunteered Stalker Steve to take my place behind the lens. Shoot to kill, Stalker. Looking forward to the photos from the trip. I wonder what it's like in the truck? Here's the full list of who's in there, sorted by my estimated number of words spoken since hitting the road: Stalker Steve (13,875), Body (10,765), Porpe (6,324), Clem (6,180), DMFP (3,238), RayRay (30), Ian Gow (20), Jacob (10), Jereme Knibbs (5). Filmer Joe Pellham is also in there, but I don't really know him. Maybe he's talking everyone's ear off right this second.

Good Thing Halloween Isn't Dead
Posted By Rob
Mon, Nov 02, 12:34 PM
Here are the results for the Vert is Dead Contest Intermediate Division: First, Cameron Miller. Last, Alejandro Brunell.
In between: nobody. Our local contests here have an average of 130 people in them,
not counting all the bummed kids that can't skate because it's full.
What happened at the Vert is Dead Contest? Check out the rest of the pathetic turnout in one of the biggest failures of an event that
I can ever remember doing here:
Vert is Dead. Oh, Well. It's Halloween, Let's Party.
At least Halloween isn't dead. Included is a party time chill cam dump from Ybor and Goodwine's art show.

We Need More Chill Cam Dumps
Posted By Rob
Mon, Nov 02, 9:59 AM
The chill and party shot photo count on the site is approaching 7,000 from all this lurkage over the years. You can't blame me for getting a little burnt out sometimes. Good think Clem helps out. He's got another one here: Clem's Chill Cam Dump From Damn Am and Portland.

Monday Mornings Are No Time for MJ
Posted By Rob
Mon, Nov 02, 9:03 AM
Mike Thompson who won the Gear 4 A Year Contest last month got to take his gear collection tour with all the companies hooking it up. We will also be seeing Mike at Tampa Am as part of the package he won. Speaking of Tampa Am, the first two videos I opened this morning from people trying to get into Tampa Am both had Michael Jackson songs. Here's another Public Service Announcement: when making your video to send to total strangers that don't know you, it's best to leave music out of it. Do you know anyone who want's to Beat It at 8am on a Monday? Yeah, people are sensitive about their music, especially in skateboarding. Careful with that.

Party in My Neighborhood Friday Night
Posted By Rob
Thu, Oct 29, 9:54 AM
I was going to dress up as Mike Goodwine for his Friday night
party and
art show, but I had trouble rounding up 10 kids and four hot, white women to roll
with. So, I'm not sure what I'm doing about a costume, but I'll definitely
see you there on Friday night. Come check out some of Goodwine's work at
Karma Bar and Cafe downtown and
maybe after that we'll go skate turtle ditch
in costumes. If you need some Halloween inspiration, check out
Pat Stiener's site
that doesn't have us in his link list, but it's cool, no big deal, so what,
I didn't even notice, who cares anyway, whatevvvvvvsss, bro.

Trendspin
Posted By Rob
Wed, Oct 28, 2:10 PM
I was just correcting some typos in the trick lists I typed out on the Damn Am Finals Results and realized that in the short list of 12 skaters in the Finals, the word "bigspin" appears 23 times, just a few instances short of the word "kickflip" including all variations. Is the bigspin blown out? I hope not, it's one of the last legit street moves I got. At least Rob Maatman is keeping them looking good.

Had Enough Damn Am Yet?
Posted By Rob
Tue, Oct 27, 3:45 PM
I went nuts on shooting tons of skate photos and sequences this weekend so it's taken me quite a while to get these all together, even after cutting a bunch of them out. Here are Damn Am Skate Photos. There are plenty of lurk/chill photos coming up later. After that, I'm home for a long time now and things will start to focus on good old Tampa.

A Couple Minutes at the Bar After Work
Posted By Rob
Mon, Oct 26, 4:15 PM
I was stuck working during the DNA OJ Damn Am Best Trick yesterday, but I just checked the footage at Shred or Die. I remember seeing Aaron Collier try backside big spin back lip, but in the footage it looks like big flip back lip. Wow, never seen that one before. I'm working on photos and Clem's story right now. In the meantime, check out some party cam footage with a chat with Theotis Beasely about who he made out with, Nick Merlino's love of shots, and other random drunk antics late night at Damn Am.

Second heat just wrapped up and we're on to the last three. You can watch this all go down live tomorrow at Volcom.com.

He's Not THAT Crazy

Sat, Oct 24, 10:30 AM
I had dinner with Foundation Team Manager, Mike Sinclair, who brought along Nick Merlino, which made for a fairly entertaining time. I used the chill cam to film some of Nick's banter ranging from fear of flying, to his least favorite skater in the Contest, to his smooth ways with the females.

If the Bennihanna Was a Flip Trick
Posted By Rob
Sat, Oct 24, 9:44 AM
Some dude yesterday started his run with dolphin flip boardslide on the rail, then proceeded to attempt to double dolphin flip the double set, then did a triple dolphin flip over the hip rolling away like a human pretzel. Wow, there are some characters as usual at this year's Damn Am at Volcom. Colin Clark has some highlights from Friday's Street Qualifiers at Damn Am Costa Mesa. Check out Dustin Blauvelt, Tyler Elsey
(unsponsored, got in with video footage), Kechaud Johnson, Caesar Rosado (recently had a Mag Minute, Thrasher Sponsor Me feature), a couple Who Dat?'s, Matt Lonergan, John Fitzgerald, Nolan Helmstetter, Louie Lopez, Donovan Piscopo, Raymond Macken, and Nick Tucker.
