The What's Up Blog Archives

Click here for the archives. The What's Up Column at SPoT chronicles everything that goes on here at SPoT and the other events we do around the world through SPoTlight Productions, our skateboarding events company. It's also littered with opinions on random things in skateboarding and other adventures from our travels like nightlife and plain old tourist sightseeing. Occasionally, there's even some skate business talk and industry banter and news. It's primarily written by Rob Meronek, skating for 20+ years and working at the Park full time since 2001.

What's Up at SPoT: Random Posts From Over the Years

I've been posting random ramblings to this What's Up blog on the SPoT site since 1999. Here's a random list of some of my favorite posts over the years...Rob.
Great SPoT Flood of 2007 (Aug 2007)
Posted by Rob on Tue, Aug 07, 2007
Looks like the Park almost washed away while we were in Europe. Check out the Great SPoT Flood of 2007. The curse of the moat was long overdue to eat up another car.
We Should Have Played Some Kriss Cross (Dec 2009)

P-Stone's redit of Stalker Steve's High Ollie Jump Attempt is much funnier with the Hollywood effects like slow-mo and the Chariots of Fire theme song. It's one of those videos where you just start laughing to yourself when you think about it. I couldn't believe how the entire building was chanting, "Stalker! Stalker! Stalker!"

Abdias Rivera is now getting shoes from Nike.
Cody McEntire's Winning Tampa Am Run (Jan 2006)
Posted by Rob on Tue, Jan 31, 2006
Check this run out. Cody McEntire started out with a nollie backside heel flip over the big pyramid. Then followed up with nollie boardslide on the bump to flat bar, backside disaster on the quarter pipe, nollie half cab heel flip over the pyramid hip, kickflip up the step-up, switch flip the stair set, nollie front board on the small rail, backside lipslide on the other small rail, nollie flip up the step-up, then finished with a perfect nollie backside big spin down the stair set. All with a Shook Nightie super sized ghetto gown that would make Andrew Pott proud. Here's the video footage: Cody McEntire's Winning Tampa Am Run.
Day Two in Puerto Rico (Feb 2007)
Posted by Rob on Sat, Feb 10, 2007
The last 24 hours of of my life here in Puerto Rico are definitely ranking in the top 10 days of all time. Today we skated for a bit, but then got distracted by some of the best Puerto Rico has to offer the chilling tourist. Check out some photos from day two here:
