Stalker Steve brought his gear to the streets again and has another article: Let's Go Exploring!. Maybe I should do that sometime.

The What's Up Blog Archives

Click here for the archives. The What's Up Column at SPoT chronicles everything that goes on here at SPoT and the other events we do around the world through SPoTlight Productions, our skateboarding events company. It's also littered with opinions on random things in skateboarding and other adventures from our travels like nightlife and plain old tourist sightseeing. Occasionally, there's even some skate business talk and industry banter and news. It's primarily written by Rob Meronek, skating for 20+ years and working at the Park full time since 2001.

What's Up at SPoT: Random Posts From Over the Years

I've been posting random ramblings to this What's Up blog on the SPoT site since 1999. Here's a random list of some of my favorite posts over the years...Rob.
It's Not Just Pop That He Has (Mar 2010)
Posted by Rob on Tue, Mar 16, 2010
You can catch some amazing skating during the practice sessions on Sunday at Tampa Pro. Check out Torey's backside tailslide sequence up and across the hubba. More coming up later.
Are Gangsters Afraid of Haunted Hospitals? (Apr 2010)
Posted by Rob on Sun, Apr 18, 2010
Here is Clem's full story along with my photos and racist banter from the Skateboarder Magazine Hollenbeck Jam where SPoTlight Productions donated services to help organize and run the event. Thanks to Skateboarder Mag and the sponsors that threw in for Make-A-Wish.
OG (May 2006)
Posted by Rob on Fri, May 12, 2006
We used to pretty much use stickers and tape to make our old flyers as you can see on this one from 1996 that someone sent to Schaefer. This one doesn't top Alana's OG SPoT membership card.
I Bet His Footage is on Cassette Tape (Jun 2010)
Posted by Rob on Wed, Jun 23, 2010
A few years ago, I noticed a weird increase in the number of skateboard resumes that accompanied footage kids were sending in to get into Damn Am and Tampa Am. Looks like that was nothing new. Today in my inbox I found a skateboard resume so old it's done on a typewriter. It belongs to our good friend Mike Sinclair who is TM at Tum Yeto and a regular SPoTlight Productions judge. Nice work, Mike. I have to go easy on him because if anyone uncovers stuff from my early days of skateboarding like that, I will be equally embarrassed.
A One Day Copenhagen Adventure (Jun 2010)
Posted by Rob on Fri, Jun 25, 2010
Planes, trains, weird coffee, pushing through the streets, the Copenhagen Skatepark, and soccer madness on day one of Copenhagen Pro. Today, I am stuck all day doing registration at the park. Copenhagen Pro starts tomorrow and will be live on the web at dvsshoes.com.
