Tampa Pro is One Month Away
Posted by Rob on Mon, Feb 08, 1:24 PM
Hulu has several past episodes of the shows that Fuel TV does every year for Tampa Pro. See you here in our crusty little skateboard hut. Tampa Pro 2010 is Friday, March 12, 2010 - Sunday, March 14, 2010. Tickets will sell out as usual. Don't ask me for any as usual. It's one month away and we still haven't confirmed the band as usual. See you there with a camera in your face as usual.

What We Did With Volcom's $10,000
Posted by Rob on Fri, Feb 05, 12:03 AM
There was a Mini-Ramp Jam and we gave out 10 large of Volcom's loot. Check out photos, footage, and a story from that good time here: ASR Mini-Ramp Jam Presented by Volcom. Also included are several random snaps from a bored walk around San Diego and ASR while Colin Clark and I had an hour or so to kill.

Posted by Rob on Wed, Feb 03, 3:59 PM
The SPoTlight Productions and Skatepark of Tampa crew just arrived in San Diego for ASR, Crossroads, and the 2nd Annual Damn Am Awards going on tonight. Here's a few photos of what's going on so far.
Win a VIP Trip to Tampa Pro from Fuel TV
Posted by Rob on Tue, Feb 02, 5:40 PM
Fuel TV is doing the live HD webcast of Tampa Pro again this year, but they're also giving away a VIP trip to Tampa Pro so you can be here to experience it yourself live through the two high definition viewing objects built right in your head.
I'm Pointing My New Gadget at You
Posted by Rob on Mon, Feb 01, 10:04 PM
I got a new camera and lens a few days ago. It takes faster sequences and makes things much more flexible for shooting in crappy light like the Skatepark has. Check out a few sequences: My New Camera Isn't Going to Make Me Take Better Pictures.
Circus in the Streets

Emerica is considering cities for its 2010 Wild in the Streets events. Let's make Tampa one of those cities. Tell Emerica you want it in Tampa. Check out the footage below from Wild in the Streets Vancouver last year. Let's bring that ruckus right here to our front yard. Specifically, "Tampa's living room."
Sign Me Up For the Screaming Virgin Curse

Our friends in Copenhagen have used the tag lines, "Whipped and beaten by the rolling whores of Copenhagen," among other things to promote the 4th Annual Copenhagen Pro Contest. I love how much less uptight they are than us wide Americans here. Where else can you get a beer like this? When I think of Copenhagen Pro last year, visions of manual to bennihanna and death threats to let someone who's not pro into the Contest come to mind. I will once again be on the front lines of defending the contest from entry by sketchy "pros." This is no Poo Tour, it's a pro contest for legit pros only. Your country plays by the same rules our country does. See you there. Several other events have been added to the SPoTlight Productions list for 2010, too. It's far from complete, but we are always adding it as we get confirmation on dates and new skateboard shindigs we're down for.
Staying Classy in San Diego Next Week
Posted by Rob on Wed, Jan 27, 11:23 AM
ASR and Crossroads is in San Diego next week. Shakka bras are excercising their thumb and pinky, Cali girls are asking for the week off at Bennigans so they can booth model, and every industry dude becomes sketchy flyer guy trying to get you to come to the ultra-cool-guy extreme sunglass and boardshorts party. Skip all that and join the crusty skateboarders you've been seeing all around the globe all year at the Annual Damn Am Awards. Remember the Awards from last year?. It's like that except this time it's at the Tum Yeto headquarters in downtown San Diego. There's a mini-ramp, free sauce if you're of age, and the SPoTlight Productions staff in budget ass suits giving out awards to our favorite skaters of 2009. Also at ASR, SPoTlight Productions and Volcom are doing a $10,000 Best Trick Contest at the mini-ramp there. It's Wednesday, February 3rd at 2pm at the San Diego Convention Center. It's all given out in cash as you throw down your best moves. I recommend that you bring some cash with you, too, because if you're doing wack crap like blunt nosegrabs, we are going to charge you for it. It's kind of like a reverse best trick contest. You hurt our eyes, you have to pay. See you there.

Your girlfriend is hyped that the Valentine's Day Massacre this year is not on Valentine's Day. It's the day before on Saturday, February 13th. While you're here, pick up some flowers and candy. You can sign up for the Contest at skateparkoftampa.com/contest. As you know, it always fills up.
Come Make Some New Friends in March
Posted by Rob on Tue, Jan 26, 4:26 PM
Dan Cece, thanks for the nice words about your experience at Tampa Pro. As much as we see pros at all these skateboard shindigs all over the world, I still get star-struck and an awkward feeling every time I meet my idols. I feel very fortunate that still happens. Some idols I wish I never met and just kept my distance and kept them as an idol, but that's a whole separate story. This year's Tampa Pro is March 12 - 14. You can buy tickets online here. Public Enemy was being talked about for a while for the Tampa Pro Party, but fell through. I've also heard Built to Spill being discussed. As soon as we get final world, those tickets will be online, too.
Innetech Commode Explode
Posted by Rob on Tue, Jan 26, 4:07 PM
This morning we were greeted with a nice sewer surprise in Innetech. Seepage from the left of my desk there on the bottom was coming from Transitions. Seepage from the right was coming from the Innetech bathroom. Word is the last activity in the Innetech bathroom involved Body's butthole. Thanks, pal. Drip from Transitions was smelling like a week old v-neck and the cess from our bathroom reminded me of the Phillipines. Sorry fellow Innetechers, I had to get out of there. Hope you're all still alive.
Don't Step in Diarrhea on Your Walk in the Park
Posted by Rob on Tue, Jan 26, 11:13 AM
Here are my photos and banter from Curtis Hixon Park the other day. Stalker Steve also has his that he titled, "Curtis Hixon is a Dick, Son!." Skateboarding is illegal, so we have to stay creative. That's a good thing. See you on wheels in Curtis Hixon Park. You can also find a normal ass citizen's take on the whole thing here. I guess this guy lives in Skypoint. Nice to meet you, neighbor.

Mayor Pam Iorio: Everyone is Welcome Except Diarrhea and Skateboarders
Posted by Rob on Mon, Jan 25, 9:57 AM
Imagine breaking down a huge wall with a caveman tool. The first few times you hit, it's a small chip or maybe even just a scratch. Keep hitting and eventually the chips get bigger and chunks of the wall start to come down. At the Curtis Hixon Park Grand Opening yesterday, I'd like to think we put a few large chips in the wall. We showed up with skateboards, got the usual harassment from police, and made our little statement. During all this, Mayor Pam Iorio mentioned in her speech that the Park is for everyone except skateboarders. The news your dad reads also added one extra word to the title of the story about the grand opening, "Tampa's Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park opens to mostly rave reviews." The Mayor's words and that word "mostly" in the title of the news story is the dent we put in the wall. And, we had a damn good time doing it as you can see in a few minutes of footage. Warning: there are bad words in it. Sure, there are more mature ways of bringing to the City's attention the fact that places to skate are needed, but they're boring, time consuming, and likely won't result in anything worthwile. Oh well, Tampa is going to be the last city on earth to figure out their youth.
Fix Your Leaky Butt Before Coming to Curtis Hixon
Posted by Rob on Sat, Jan 23, 8:00 PM
Join the discussion about the City of Tampa's diarrhea concerns on the SPoT Facebook page. They consider this important enough to etch the rule into the marble at Curtis Hixon Park, but "No skateboarding" didn't even make the list - ha. Wow.
Curtis Hixon Park on Sunday
Posted by Rob on Fri, Jan 22, 6:30 PM
On Sunday at 1:30pm, Tampa Mayor Pam Iorio will be downtown cutting a ribbon to open Curtis Hixon park where they built a playground for all the avid playgrounders and children you find downtown. The fence is down so I took some photos just now. Stop by with your skateboard and show the mayor what really should have been built. See you there for a $43 million game of SKATE and maybe more. Who knows?
The Moat Show at Skatepark of Tampa
Posted by Rob on Fri, Jan 22, 10:02 AM
Shops, companies, and skaters from all over the south gathered at Skatepark of Tampa for two days of skate bid'niss and a $3,000 Best Trick Contest at the Moat Show. Check out four minutes of footage.
Thanks DVS

In the kiddie course and bowl warehouse, the ignorant ass hip hop is sounding much more vibrant than usual. Clear, crisp lyrics of ho manipulatin' and street corner hustlin' got us all snapping higher ollies. We have DVS to thank for this. They sprung for the new speakers back there. I shot a few more fisheye photos last night and with the bowl being that close, of course the urge for a Frontside Grind Magazine shoot was too great to resist. The Editor in Chief even put himself on the cover. How shameless.
