Sequences from Maloof Money Cup NYC 2010
Shane O'Niell - thank you for bringing the house down with this amazing switch flip back lip at Maloof Money Cup. At the first Maloof Money Cup, the last section with the big carcass toss stuff counted for a much larger percentage of your score. People complained. So, on this one, all parts of the course counted equal. People complained. So what did we learn from all this? That people complain. It will never go away, especially with what's at stake. It's good that people complain - all of our opinions count and it's part of what keeps skateboarding what it is. With all sections being equal value, I personally like that we all get to see the style of people like Brian Anderson and Eric Koston combined with skating from the parachute jumpers and pole dancers. You can discuss on the Thrasher site.

We stopped by Paul Rodriguez's private park today and saw some mesmerizing skateboard trickery like this nollie cab switch backside tailslide. I think he came out regular just to show how under control he's got this twister to balancing act.

Felipe was killing practice, but I guess he blew it in his jam because I didn’t see him in the semi-finals. This is a switch kickflip back tail.

Stefan Janoski - switch frontside nosegrind. I didn't want to update the headshot he has for the site because the one he has now is what his mom sent in. She's rightfully proud of Stefan.

A Night with P-Rod
Oh no, we've got a little tiny bit of Jereme Rogers arms coming out on the rollaway here. Remember when you didn't see one without the other with these two? I wonder if P-Rod has Jereme's jams in his collection? Anyway, that's an amazing looking switch flip wallride. The shutter speed is 1/200 on this one and the flicker is almost gone.

A Night with P-Rod
There's that flickering of what appears to be changing white balance on each frame of this switch back smith. Thrasher photographer Joe Hammeke broke it down for me. This and my other flickering sequences at night in the Park were shot at 1/500th of a second shutter speed. That's fast enough where the entire spectrum of the ceiling lights is not captured in the same way on each frame. He suggested slowing the shutter speed which would allow each frame to capture the full spectrum of the flickering lights. It worked. Check the following sequences and you can see the flicker is gone at 1/200th of a second.

This switch crooks by Pat Stiener is at the same spot as Robbie's frontside flip switch 5-0 fake. Pat showed me this out-of-the-way barrier one day while fishing for photos.

Sketchy Winter Jam Contest
Porpe pulled this switch flip after battling it out for a bit. He had it a little rocketed, but still, that's a big step-up to switch flip.
