If You Actually Recognize This Graphic, You Should Get the Cover of Frontside Grind Magazine

Posted By Rob Wednesday, March 10, 2010 8:58 AM
The "Tampa Tribute" Art Show is in the Snack Bar the entire time during Tampa Pro. Local artists have done work as a tribute to some of the most amazing skate artists, most of which are from a time when graphics in skateboarding were actually memorable. This Sims Screamer graphic was just dropped off and will be part of the show.

The What's Up Blog Archives

Click here for the archives. The What's Up Column at SPoT chronicles everything that goes on here at SPoT and the other events we do around the world through SPoTlight Productions, our skateboarding events company. It's also littered with opinions on random things in skateboarding and other adventures from our travels like nightlife and plain old tourist sightseeing. Occasionally, there's even some skate business talk and industry banter and news. It's primarily written by Rob Meronek, skating for 20+ years and working at the Park full time since 2001.

What's Up at SPoT: Random Posts From Over the Years

I've been posting random ramblings to this What's Up blog on the SPoT site since 1999. Here's a random list of some of my favorite posts over the years...Rob.
Public Service Announcement (Jun 2009)
Posted by Rob on Mon, Jun 08, 2009
Just because this Krew Tank Top is $19.95 this week for Wizard's Weekly WTF Deal doesn't mean you need to be wearing it while you're filming skateboarding stunts. Save it for the beach or mellow skate days. Thank you.
Turtle Ditch and St. pete Plaza (Jun 2007)
Posted by Rob on Sun, Jun 17, 2007
I broke yet another chill camera, among lots of other things, while in Minneapolis last weekend, so the chill shots are at a minimum for a while. That's a good thing. Today Drunk Aaron and I brought out the skate cam and we got a few sequences and photos for you, including shark attacks and John Travolta. Check it out: Random Snaps from St. Pete and Turtle Ditch.
TPATLiens (Jun 2006)

We found plenty of spots, new friends, and had many good times in a quick weekend trip to Atlanta. Check out some photos from our trip.
We saved several photos for use in places other than the website so be on the lookout for those also. We also hit up this place called Blood 'n Fire, a homeless shelter in Atlanta with a bowl and several other ramps. Photos from that are coming up tomorrow.
News is Here, Asked if We Know Tommy Hawk, Attempts to Get Radical on Half Pike (Jul 2010)
Posted by Rob on Tue, Jul 13, 2010
Mall grabbing news guy, plus half pike, plus Tommy Hawk impersonation = guaranteed accident. The star of the normal news your dad watches was attempting to cross the vert ramp and ran into Cody here. They both went down, large guy fully on top of small guy. They're both ok. Dylan Perry has the footage that could be YouTube clip of the year. Not sure if they'll show the footage of the collision on the news.
Update: here's the better footage that actually aired on live TV:
Wu Tang Sneak Attack (Feb 2006)
Posted by Rob on Sun, Feb 19, 2006
Actual skateboarding photos are coming soon, I swear. The Adio demo yesterday was great. Photos from that will be up tomorrow. For now, check out how Sink, Shannon, and I snuck into the VIP section at the Wu Tang show last night. We sure felt cool.
